Her voice was split into two parts, one thick and one thin.
"It's the police, someone called us."
Anne was the one who had called.
"Is that you?"
She felt relieved, her heart slowed down. Let me see your badge, she replied fast. The man with dark glasses and boots swung up his badge and smiled.
"OK, come on in..."
She closed the door and released the chain. He lighted a cigarette and smoked it with great pleasure. He had a big scar on the chin revealing a new scary side of him.
"What do you want?", he said with an even bigger smile than before. She got more and more scared of the impression he made on her. Why is he smiling? Was he really a cop? She collected her thoughts and said quickly with a thin voice in fear:
"Never mind, it's all right now, sorry for your trouble, coming all this way here."
The only thing she wanted was to get him out of the apartment.
She pushed him to the door. A strong grip on her right arm stopped her, she looked up in anger. Her teeth were visible in the dark room.
"You sure are pretty when you are angry", he said.
His smile was big. She had never seen such a big smile in her life before. How come a pretty girl, like you, is living here on her own?
"Let me go! I've done nothing!", she screamed, and spat him in the face.
Suddenly she started to bleed from her nose; the man had hit her brutally in her face without hesitation.
"No, but soon you will", he replied. His face changed from a big laugh to a resolute look.
"Now you're coming with me."
She started to struggle against the strong man with no success. She knew that she didn't have any chance, but she got furious and scared at the same time.
"Get your hands off me! What are you doing? Help!!!"
Nobody could hear her prayers. She felt alone. The man throw her to the floor while he quickly loosened his belt and his pants fell to the floor.
She was unconscious during the rape. She dreamed of flowers and freedom. She was a butterfly. She could fly! Anne woke up by the door closing. Her eyes opened slowly. Where? What? She remembered. A laugh that came from nowhere raised in enormous strength. It kept going on even though she pressed her hands to her ears.
She fumbled through the living-room, out to the balcony.
"I can fly!"
Without hesitating she throw herself out in the air. She flew! At least for a while...
